Privacy Policy
Rinkmate is operated by Jackass Engineering, LLC ("Rinkmate," "we," "us"). This policy explains what information we collect through the Rinkmate app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Who Rinkmate is for
Rinkmate accounts are created by adults - team managers, coaches, and parents/guardians - to run a sports team. Rinkmate is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to create an account. A team's roster may include the names of players who are minors; that information is entered and managed by the adult who manages the team, not collected directly from a child. If we learn that a child under 13 has created their own Rinkmate account, we will delete it.
Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, and profile photo, from Google or Apple sign-in or the email you register with.
- Team and roster information: team names, rosters, jersey numbers, and roles (coach, manager, player) entered by team managers and coaches.
- Messages and media: chat messages, photos, and reactions you send within a team's chat.
- Schedule and poll data: events, RSVPs, and poll responses within a team.
- Dues tracking: amounts a manager marks as owed, due dates, and paid/unpaid status. Rinkmate does not process payments or collect payment card or bank information - dues are tracked in the app, and any actual payment happens outside Rinkmate between team members.
- Device and usage data: a push-notification token so we can deliver reminders, plus standard diagnostic and analytics data (app crashes, performance, feature usage) collected automatically.
How we use information
We use this information to operate Rinkmate: showing your teams' chat, schedule, polls, and roster to the right members, sending reminders and notifications, keeping the app secure and reliable, fixing bugs, and understanding which features are used. We do not sell your information or use it to serve third-party advertising.
How information is shared
Information you add to a team - chat messages, roster entries, RSVPs, poll votes, dues status - is visible to other members of that same team, according to their role. We share information with the service providers that run Rinkmate's infrastructure, primarily Google Firebase / Google Cloud, who process it on our behalf under their own security and confidentiality commitments. We do not sell personal information to third parties.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account), or by requesting deletion here. Deleting your account removes your profile and personal account data. Messages you sent may remain visible to other team members so conversations stay intact for them, but will no longer be attributed to your name - they'll show as sent by a deleted user.
Security
Team data is protected by access rules that restrict it to members of that team, transport encryption, and Firebase App Check to help block abusive traffic. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately.
Your choices
You can review and correct your account information from within the app, control notification permissions from your device settings, and request a copy or deletion of your data by contacting us below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Rinkmate changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do, and post material changes within the app.
