A team manager checklist for the start of the season
A team manager does the work nobody sees: the roster, the schedule, the money and the reminders. Here is a checklist for the weeks before the first game.
People
- Collect the roster with names, contact details and jersey numbers.
- Decide who has which role: manager, coach, captain, parent contact.
- Get everyone into one place to communicate.
Schedule
- Get the full season schedule from the league and put it in one place.
- Check for conflicts with holidays, school events and other teams.
- Ask for RSVPs from the start.
Money
- Work out what the season costs: league fees, facility, referees, uniforms, tournaments.
- Set the amount and a deadline, and say what is covered.
- Track who has paid in one place.
Equipment
- Order uniforms early and confirm sizes.
- Check shared gear and replace what is worn out.
Communication
- Pick one channel for team business.
- Send the first message with the schedule, directions and who to contact.
The first week
- Confirm the facility and arrival time for game one.
- Post the lineup or plan before game day.
Rinkmate covers the roster, schedule, chat, lineups and dues so the checklist lives in the app. See the team management app.
